I had never been to Cervia before, and ' I just found a nice town.
I was walking one afternoon, both on the waterfront that center, which is small and has few things to see, but it's really cute!
reach the center of Cervia is really easy! We were in the car but we easily found parking just outside the pedestrian area. Of places to park your car there are many, not only to pay, in fact we managed to find a free one with no problems. The walk from the outskirts of the city is not long. The center is in fact accessible.
You can recognize first of all because it's pedestrian area (popular with bicycles, especially at night!), Then why is surrounded by four gates, one on each side.
We entered the door that faces Rome Avenue, along which you will immediately notice the changes to road paving.
The door gives access to small shops, and already under the arches you can see a glimpse of the Cathedral , very impressive.
The first square you come to is Piazza Pisacane, tiny, characteristic, which is overlooked by many recreational and park benches, much frequented by the elderly. In the square there is a small shop that sells outdoor
typical products, including the famous salt of Cervia .
Well, I did not know its existence, but is derived from the salt flats surrounding a very fine salt, which exists in different processes: regular, herbal, flavored and many other types. In addition, they sell it in glass jars, but also bags made with fabric or raffia, very nice and suitable as gifts for friends. I have not bought, do not use salt when I cook almost, and then it cost a lot, 5 € a jar seemed a bit too much. After the catch of sand sculptures then, I have done without!
The square gives a very different features streets that are reminiscent of those once, when we were children. Council through someone.
From this square you reach the main and largest hosting the Cathedral: Piazza Garibaldi.
This is much bigger, there are several bars and clubs for drinks, gardens, a palace built in 1700 now houses the club Grazia Deledda and a beautiful fountain.
Now part of the square had several chairs and a small stage, where he probably would have performed the music, maybe a band.
The square is very large, and leads to two avenues. In it you can admire the small gardens that surround the Cathedral, very nice although a bit poor on the inside. A small fountain surrounds the whole, and beautiful arcade with shops and bars allow a break. In addition, there are plenty of benches, this I find it a good thing (people seem to have just fast!). We sat drinking a coffee in one of the bars, 1.70, I would very much! But it was pretty good, at least one! Just above the Town Hall
there is a sign that talks about Grazia Deledda . In fact, I asked the name of Promenade. the sign says that the Deledda spent each year about three months to mak Cervia, and just to stay in a house on the City Hall, wrote three of her novels! The other hand is dedicated to Lungomare Gabriele D'Annunzio that he loved this town.
along Viale Roma but there are several shops. Start from a port that borders the Old Town, and is un'allungamento it, as it is throughout the pedestrian zone. The walk gets interesting, because of features shops, shops of all kinds, small steps in the green heart of walking and I saw even a makeshift theater set up for children! Cervia is a town that thinks a lot of fun to children, even if much of 'Emilia Romagna I noticed the same. The fun is extended to the elderly, who spend summer nights to dance the whole smooth and never tire! Viale Roma ends on the waterfront Grazia Deledda and D'Annunzio. From here begins a long walk, which can be carried out on the beach, or on the sidewalk appear, separated by a great bike path. The beach is huge and the bathrooms are very well equipped and quiet.
promenade also leads to Via dei Mille , popular with tourists for its numerous restaurants. Along the narrow streets that wind in the center, there are several stalls, which come alive especially in the evening when it gets dark, as in most towns on the Adriatic Coast.
I must say that we had a nice ride, and I liked that Cervia! Of course, there was a lot of people I went and luxury, since I do not like crowded places. But I must say it was an enjoyable day, relaxing and really flooded the sea air!
Council, for whom there was never a walk if you happen to be here. Of course, the town is primarily tourism and the evening turns lights and stalls. But even in the heart of the city brings to life the inhabitants of Cervia, simple, friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
